A Lenten segment aimed at devoting some time to the religious and pious in our reading area.
During this Lenten season, I hope we keep something in mind. I was reading the Bible and I was on 1 Corinthians Chapter 11 and the first line states, “Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ”.
Be imitators. So much weight is placed on us by others to be original, to never copy and to always be the leader. But, how do we go about doing that if we have no clue on what is right and what is wrong. In that 11th chapter of the first letter to the Corinthians from Paul he is calling out to us to follow him as he follows Christ.
In order for us to know how to follow in the correct path, we should look at the person who is following the right way and follow that person. In doing so, others will follow us and we will be able to enjoy the ability to be leaders of the Word and followers of Christ. As a Disciple, it is our duty to spread the Word and invoke love and purpose out of life. To be a follower of a devout practitioner will enable us to be better leaders for Christ.
While practicing this Lenten season, find that devout person who you know is walking in the footsteps of Paul. Focus on being that person who others can follow as well so that they may lead. Become the people that the Christian faith has led us to be able to be and walk in the way that is right and just. Be proud and serve those by example.
To the Catholics, enjoy the Ash Wednesday celebration and go out with the ashes on your heads to be symbols to all about your pride of being Catholic. Fast wholeheartedly and yearn for that sustenance to be filled by Christ. May Lent bring many blessings to you!
