Titans Put Five on the Podium at Conference Tournament

Treyton Cacek repeats as conference champion, sole champion for Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire.

The Titans did not have a lot of success in the team standings despite placing five on the stand during the Twin Lakes Conference Meet on Tuesday, January 21 . Cade Stearns brought in a third place finish after a semifinal loss, with a win by fall in 26 seconds and a victory in the third place match by major decision 8-0 over Emmetsburg’s Lucas Carter at the 120 pound weight class.

Spencer Roth earned a second place finish after his first two wins, one by fall (3:54) and the other by decision (6-0). In the finals match, he was unable to overcome South Central Calhoun’s Blake McAlister losing by one point in the 9-8 decision.

Treyton Cacek continued his winning streak with a first place finish in relaxing fashion, recording a fall (1:07) in his first match of the day and a fall (0:56) in the semifinal match. The finals match went the distance as Cacek took home the victory by decision 9-2, giving him the only championship for the Titans.

The Titans also earned two sixth place finishes from Cormick Currans and Matteo Castiglione ending their night with a final points scored of 72 earning a 9th place finish.

The Titans will take the mat January 24-25 at the Herb Irgens Invitational at Battle Creek-Ida Grove, which hosts 28 teams total. This is one of the last two invitationals for the Titans as they head into the final stretch with sectionals on February 8.
