GT/RA Hosts Invitational, Cacek sole Champion

The TItan wrestling team hosted their annual wrestling invite this past Saturday placing 8th in the team standings as they crowned only one Champion.

The Titan wrestling squad put four wrestlers on the podium at their home invite with Treyton Cacek advancing to 27-0 on the season with a first place finish and the sole champion for Graettinger-Terril. Cade Stearns came in second with a loss (Dec. 6-2) to Bryce McDonough from Central Springs at the 120 pound weight class. Spencer Roth brought in a third place finish at the 160 pound class (Fall 3:21) over Creytan Grimm from West Bend-Mallard, and Jordan Saul placed sixth losing in the fifth place match by fall (3:21) at the 138 pound weight class.

Cacek started the tournament with a first round bye followed by a 34 second pin in the second round and a fall in the third round (2:39) to advance to the finals. The finals match went the full distance ending with a victory by decision 5-2 for Cacek to earn the first place finish.

Stearns also had a bye in the first round and won by fall in the second round (0:45) and a major decision (12-0) in the third round to advance to the finals. The finals match went the distance with Stearns dropping this one by decision (6-2), to end at the second spot on the podium.

The Titan wrestlers will take the mat January 14th in dual action as they head to Spirit Lake with a start time of 6:00PM
