Slow start for Titans and accurate shooting by Midgets lead to losses on Tuesday
Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire boys’ and girls’ basketball traveled to Estherville for a doubleheader, losing both in a slow start following the holiday break.
The TItan girls faced a tough Estherville Lincoln Central Midget squad that was led by Sophomore Jaydan Nitchals. Nitchals put up 26 points on the night, 21 of them stemming from her 7/11 three pointers. The Titans were unable to put points on the board early on as they fell behind in the first half by more than 30 points.
The final in this one came to 54-27 in favor of the Midgets due, in part, to their 52% field goal percentage. The Titans dropped their fifth game in a row, and fall to 2-7 overall.
The Titan boys seemed to have the same slow start as they struggled to keep up with the offensive prowess of ELC who put up 50 points in the first half on 54% from the field.
GT/RA put up more points in the second half, but not nearly enough as they fell to the Midgets 62-31, making that their third straight loss as they fall to 3-5 on the season.
The tough night for both teams will have to be forgotten as they prepare for a home doubleheader against Manson-Northwest Webster.
