Roth, Cacek remain unbeaten on the year headed into the winter break
The GT/RA Titan wrestlers traveled to West Hancock this past Saturday, December 21st, to compete in the Al DeLeon Invitational. Leading to a couple tournament champions.
Treyton Cacek and Spencer Roth led the way both placing first and providing 30 team points each. Cade Stearns, Connor Jensen, and Tanner Murray each placed third adding 18 points each, with two fourth place finishes from Matteo Castiglione and Nathan Cambell for 12 points each and 24 points coming from the fifth place finishes of Currans, Rouse, and Torreson. This brought the team point total to 153 for the day.
Cacek advanced to 25-0 on the season as he pinned his way to the finals after the first round bye with pins in the first period all the way through his bracket. Cacek spent less than a quarter’s worth of time on the mat for the day with pins of (0:31), (0:42), (0:10), and a pin in the finals over Treyten Steffen from Sumner-Fredericksburg in (0:35) as he handed Steffen his first loss of the season.
Roth also added pins most of the way through his bracket as he took first place, with times of (1:34 RD1), (2:56 RD3), (3:14 RD4), and a time of (2:58) in the championship match against Baily Meredith from Topeka-Seaman (Kansas) to advance to 22-0 on the season. His round two match ended due to injury default at the end of the second period.
GT/RA ended with 17 pins on the day to finish fourth and head into the holiday break. They welcome the year 2020 with the GT/RA Invitational at home on January 11 with a start time of 10:00AM. Their next dual will take place on January 13 in Emmetsburg.
