A November traffic accident leads to Operating While Intoxicated charge
A West Bend woman involved in an head-on collision last month is now being charged with operating while intoxicated.
According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, Kimberly Barnes, 50, faces charges of first offense operating while intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor, and driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway, a simple misdemeanor.
An initial report of the accident that occurred in the 5100 block of 370th Street on November 24th stated that Barnes was driving a 2003 Ford Focus east at 11:53 p.m. that night when she crossed the center line. That’s when she collided head-on with a red 2013 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Bill Roberts Jr., 42, of Fenton.
Barnes was injured and treated at Palo Alto County Hospital, while Roberts Jr. did not report any injuries, authorities stated at the time.
An arrest warrant for Barnes was put out on December 9. The warrant was served December 16, according to court records.
Bond for Barnes’s charges was set at $1,500 cash only for the OWI charge and $500 unsecured bond for driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway.
At the time of her arrest, Barnes was not able to post bond and was booked into the Palo Alto County Jail until she could appear before a magistrate judge.
