Boys and girls basketball teams secure victories in doubleheader
The Titan basketball teams traveled to Storm Lake on Tuesday to take on the Storm Lake St. Mary’s squads and left with notches in the win column for the boys and the girls.
The girls’ team started off strong with senior Madison Hough taking the lead in this one putting up 35 of the team’s 58 points going 14/23 on shooting; an impressive 60.9% from the field. In addition to her shooting, she led the team in rebounds with 13, had five assists, and added three steals on the defensive end.
This all proved too much to handle for the Panthers as they fell behind early and never were able to claw their way back into the game trailing at halftime by 15. The impressive 50% shooting from the field for the Titans was enough to put this one well in hand with a final score of 58-39 in favor of the Titans moving their record this season to 2-2.
GT/RA boys basketball continued the dominating night led by the duo of senior Kadin Norris and sophomore Blake Rosacker . Norris went 5/11 in shooting for fifteen-points and also tallied 5 steals on the defensive end. Rosacker added 14 points on 6 of 8 attempts in shooting as the duo put up 29 of the teams total points for the night.
Freshman Max Hough also added 8 points with a spread of contributions from the rest of team showing a strong team effort in the decisive victory.
The Titans showed up strong on the defensive end and played as a team securing a +15 turnover differential, totaling to 16 steals on the night. They also had a +10 assist differential showing just how well this team worked together. They ended this one with a score of 53-32 and improve to 2-1.
