Schany outscores entire team in victory against Spencer Tigers
In what turned out to be an 11-point difference in the game against the Spencer Tigers on December 9th, led into a night to remember for the senior Molly Schany during the 54-43 victory in Emmetsburg.
Schany who scored 31 points on the night with 12 rebounds secured a double-double for the team. But the double-double wasn’t what was so impressive. The number 23 is significant when comparing it to the 31. The number 23 is what the rest of the 10 other Emmetsburg Lady E-Hawks scored combined.
Schany went 11/14 from the field and earned a 78.6% field goal percentage on the night and a 75% free throw percentage after making 9 out of the 12 attempts she took from the line. Defensively, Molly was lights out as well securing nine rebounds and one steal.
Having beaten her personal best in her high school career in scoring, she is sitting at just eight points below the current single points record holder Anna Deets of Mason City who has 39 and is tied with two others.
The E-Hawks went on from the Spencer victory and defeated the now 0-4 Storm Lake Tornadoes by way of a 50-point rout with a final score of 74-24. This is the second time this season that Coach Fiene’s team has limited a team to less than 10 points in each quarter of a game this season.
Statistics have not yet been posted, but it is wildly expected that the now 3-1 Emmetsburg E-Hawk team has found their stride and are in no way ready to stop. Stats of last night’s game will be included upon receipt.
