E-Hawks Continue Their Unbeaten Streak in Dual Competition

Colton Anderson beginning to come into his role as leader going undefeated on the year in dual competition

On December 10th, the Emmetsburg Wrestling team traveled to Sibley-Ocheyedan for their second dual of the season. Matching up against both Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire and Sibley-Ocheyedan, the E-Hawks were able to walk away with another route against their competition.

In the Graettinger-Terril dual, the team beat the Titans 63-18. Forfeitures plagued the Titan team when they were forced to give away 36 points to the E-Hawks off of the six forfeitures on the night. Colton Anderson who has been undefeated this year in dual competition, took down Jordan Saul of GT/RA with a 2:52 pin fall at the 145-pound weight class.

Brad Wirtz was able to win by decision against Connor Jensen, Bret Hoyman secured a pin against Cormick Currans and Jon Lace II along with Nic Lowe were able to secure falls for the E-Hawks as well.

Treyton Cacek and Spencer Roth did cause the E-Hawks troubles during the night, however, winning both by falls against Ben Saxton at the 170-pound bout and Matthew Wirtz at 182-pounds.

Headed into the next dual against Sibley-Ocheyedan, the E-Hawks won by a final score of 57-14 against The Generals. At the 113-pound level, Ryerson Boevers was able to secure a major decision victory (16-7) against Mario Cuadros.

Kelly Griffin was beaten by Jonathon Krogman by way of fall and Sean Brenan also found defeat against Trey Schuck by an 8-5 point decision.

Ryan Brennan started to mount more points to grow the lead against The Generals though in the 138-pound category by winning in a decision of 11-4. Colton Andersen continued his successes on the year by topping Dylan Top by a technical fall score of 19-1 at 3:53.

While continuing to bury the Sibley-Ocheyedan group, both Bret Hoyman and Jordan Anderson added to the team’s lead by winning by way of pin at 1:01 and a decision of 5-3 respectively.

The E-Hawks, having been finding success are still developing themselves and preparing for their competition into the 2A Class realm. Their next competition will be at Cherokee on Thursday, December 12 starting at 6:00pm. The E-Hawks will be hoping to go 7-0 on the season against Alta-Aurelia and Cherokee Washington.
