Vehicle loses control, crashes into utility pole
Authorities have released details of a single-vehicle accident northwest of Fenton last week that resulted in a West Bend man being taken to a hospital for undisclosed injuries.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident at 2:06 p.m. on November 6th in the 4200 block of 580th Avenue.
An investigation showed a 2005 Kia Sorento being driven by Justin William Neff, 37, was traveling north on 580th Ave. and trying to pass a slow-moving vehicle.
While attempting to make the pass, Neff lost control of the vehicle, entered the west ditch and spun before crashing into a utility pole. Whittemore EMS transported Neff to Kossuth Regional Hospital.
Neff’s vehicle sustained an estimated $4,500 in damages. The pole, owned by Corn Belt Power, sustained $7,000 in estimated damages. Neff was cited for failing to maintain control.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Whittemore EMS, Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Palo Alto County Health System, West Bend Ford, Wickman’s Towing, City of West Bend Utilities and Corn Belt Power.
