Varsity Football Aims to Secure Win in Final Regular Season Game
After a loss against Western Christian last Friday with a final score of 28-7, the Emmetsburg E-Hawks (3-5) look to finish their season with a win against the West Sioux Falcons (7-1) tonight.
The Falcon squad will prove to be a difficult challenge for the home team. West Sioux has been able to put up 371 points on the year and are averaging 46.3 points per game and allowing just 16.6 against their opponents. The E-Hawks average 14.6 points per game this season with their combined 117 points on the year.
On the offensive side of the ball, the E-Hawks have put together 360 rush attempts on the year and have plowed ahead to gain 1,256 yards averaging 3.5 yards per carry; 13 touchdowns have been scored on the ground. Through the air, they have been able to get off 81 passing attempts and 39 completions with a completion percentage of 48.1% and 480 yards on the year.
Defensively, the E-Hawks have made 187 tackles of which 24 have been for a loss and 5 being recorded as sacks. The defensive squad has forced 10 interceptions and have returned them for 113 yards. On top of those figures, four fumbles have been recovered and a 23.6 points per game average has been achieved.
Despite the growing odds, the E-Hawks look to be able to bring back the same hard-nosed football that they have been known for in past. To end the season with a win against this tough West Sioux Falcon team would bring a positive end to a difficult season.
Kick-off tonight will be at Duane Twait Field in Emmetsburg at 7pm.
